The Founder's Story

Eczend Founder Phillip Hofung was born in China and spent his adolescence living in Jamaica with his father. He developed eczema when he was 12 years old and had no idea what the condition was. At 18 years old Hofung moved to Canada, which is when his condition worsened significantly. This is when he learned that he had eczema.

Hofung’s entire lower body, hands, and elbows were afflicted with dry, flaky, and itchy skin. Everywhere he went he would leave flakes of skin on the ground beneath, which caused a great deal of social anxiety and distress in him. The condition controlled Hofung’s life and he concealed his body however he could. He would only wear long sleeves or pants - all other clothing items were a thing of the past, swimming was out of the question, his self-esteem was at an all time low, and he was experiencing severe depression and suicidality.

Hofung’s skin condition was getting more severe each day. He knew that he would rather not live at all than live with the condition. He withdrew from friends, social situations, and avoided showing any skin at all. The effects of eczema were overspilling into many other parts of his life. Hofung wasn’t ready to give up though. In fact, he was just getting started.

Hofung searched globally for a solution, especially after western doctors and dermatologists claimed there was no cure for eczema and prescribed steroids to manage the condition. He knew long term use of steroids would only worsen his condition. Hofung continued his search for a solution in many asian countries and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process on travel, natural medicines, and creams specifically for eczema and psoriasis. Nothing worked.

A sense of hopelessness and desperation was born from these fruitless efforts to cure his eczema. Hofung still wasn’t ready to give up though. He harnessed that sense of desperation and took matters into his own hands. It was time for a serious change. This is when he took on the enormous challenge of discovering a cure for eczema and psoriasis in 2010.

How to cure itching flaky dry skin - Hofung devoted all of his time into this endeavour and carried out the research and development necessary for him to create a cream that will cure his eczema. He used his own body as the test subject. Every single prototype only made his goal of a cure more palpable and real. He was getting closer and closer each day to a body that didn’t flake and itch; to a body that he didn’t feel like hiding; a body he finally felt comfortable and confident in.

After three long years of reformulating his Eczend cream and creating hundreds of prototypes, Hofung finally found the perfect formula and cured his eczema forever. He knew he needed to share Eczend with the world so other sufferers of eczema and psoriasis wouldn’t have to live with their conditions anymore either. It’s time for a change; it’s time for Eczend.
